Missing Meaning Guide AGAINST THE STORM

Contra the storm has already proven to be very fun, but also incredibly complex and deep. When you finish for the first time the tutorial areas and you present the map of the complete region, it may be a bit overwhelming, especially because the game does not necessarily tell you what all these new symbols really mean. To help, we present the meaning of the symbols of the map in Contra the storm .

Contra the storm Symbol of the map: Fertile land

The symbol of the fertile lands is presented in two different varieties. The larger symbol occupies a complete hexagon on the map and the symbol of the smallest box that you will see in the summary of a possible settlement before committing to it. The greatest hexagonal version allows you to know that all hexagons adjacent to the symbol will have a fertile soil bonus that is applied. This bonus increases the possibilities that clearings have a fertile ground for agriculture when you discover them. The box in its summary allows you to know how many additional possibilities you have to discover a fertile ground.

The symbols of ruined settlements work in the same way as the symbols of fertile lands: one biggest hexagonal and a smaller box. Once again, the large symbol allows you to know that the ruined settlement modifier applies to all adjacent tabs. The modifier here means that you are likely to find many buildings in ruins in your new settlement of a previous one who failed. This time there is no percentage, since this modifier refers to an initial accessory, rather than a greater chance of finding something.

Contra the storm map symbol - Stonewood infestation

Again, the Stonewood infestation symbols come in pairs, and the map tab once against it indicates that each adjacent sheet will have a specific modifier. The modifier in question means that all trees are a certain percentage more resistant than they should be. Indeed, this will increase the time that takes you to cut them into a certain amount; In the previous example, the lumberjacks will take 30% more to get wood from a tree. This is a big problem when you probably need that wood as a fuel for your home, so you may think about unlocking coal production as soon as possible in these areas.

Contra the storm symbol of the map: machinery, food stock and artifacts

You probably have seen the machinery, the food reserves and the symbols of artifacts throughout the game, so let me explain a little about what each variation means. First, the row of these symbols at the top of the map screen indicates how many of each one currently has. Use them to buy updates that are invaluable to survive in subsequent cycles, so be sure to track how many it has at any given time.

If you see these reward symbols in the upper right corner of a map mosaic, that means it is an additional additional reward that you will get when completing a settlement in an adjacent mosaic. You should only find these versions of the gold mosaics symbols that indicate a modifier. It should not be confused with the same symbols in the upper left of a mosaic when the mouse passes over them. These indicate a reward that you will get when completing a scenario, but they are on the whole map, not only in the golden mosaics. All these symbols on both sides are added to calculate your reward once you succeed.

The easiest way to trace these reward symbols is in the summary window when the mouse is passed on a potential settlement mosaic. At the bottom of the panel on the left there will be a header called rewards that shows you the success you will get in your currently selected mosaic. If your reward seems lower than you thought, look for symbols on gray that indicate a reward that has already earned for a previous success.

Contra the storm Map symbol: Symbols of friendship and support

Friendship and support symbols come in 3 flavors to combine with the 3 different breeds of the game. In the photo above the lizard version is shown, but the other two are basically equal, but they use standard art for human and beavers races. These symbols indicate the favor of a certain race, which generally results in more than that breed members, as well as a benefit for the resolution of that race during the game. Again, the numbers below indicate the amount of bonus you get, and the above numbers indicate an additional lizard each time new settlers appear, and also a permanent +3 for the lizard resolution.

Contra the storm Map symbol: seasonal conditions

The final and more mysterious symbols with which you will find yourself, at least in your first cycle, are the images above known as seasonal conditions. These indicate how many positive and negative effects you will get from the area when it is established there, although the exact nature of these modifiers is not revealed until it begins. This can be anything, from an increase in certain types of production during the temperate seasons, until the villagers are distracted with the storms during the worst seasons.

On this row of symbols in its liquidation summary, you will see a classification of magnitude of mild to severe. This indicates how strong these modifiers will be, with higher ratings that make the game much more challenging, so if you are fighting, consider installing yourself in a place with less red boxes and softer conditions.
